Downloads. Everything of ours that runs on your computer.

One place. Each file says what it does, who it is for, and carries its SHA-256 so you — and our own Guardian — can tell it is really ours. Nothing here phones home except to answer you.

We never hold your files or your money. What you download runs on your machine; what it sends us, it says out loud before it sends. Every script is plain text — open it in Notepad and read every line.
If someone is in your computerFor the person helping someone whose computer was taken over — a friend, a grandchild, a neighbour. The Security page explains the whole picture; these are the tools.

EmergentRI Rescue

Collects the evidence (read-only), stops every known remote-control tool, blocks it in the firewall, removes it, leaves a plain-text Watch that stops it if it comes back, and — when you say yes — sends the evidence folder to our Security Desk, which e-mails back the report, the removal list and the texts to send to the providers and the police. The Guardian browser extension is in the same zip.

  1. Download, right-click the zip → Extract All… → choose the USB stick. A folder EmergentRI-Rescue appears with the files right inside it. (Never run from inside the zip.)
  2. On the affected computer: unplug the network cable / turn Wi-Fi off. Do not restart first.
  3. Open that folder, double-click RESCUE.cmd. Windows asks "allow this app to make changes?" — Yes. (A blue "Windows protected your PC" box means: More info → Run anyway.) A second, blue window opens and does the work; it stays open and tells you what it did. Answer its two questions at the end.
  4. Restart, run it once more, then install the Guardian in Edge and Chrome (GUARDIAN-INSTALL.txt on the stick).

Evidence Collector

Only the collecting half: copies the traces an intruder leaves (programs, services, tasks, startup entries, remote-tool logs, logons with their source addresses, firewall log, a SHA-256 manifest of everything) into one folder on the stick. Changes nothing.

Clean-Out

Only the removing half: takes out the programs, services, tasks, startup entries and firewall holes named in the Desk's CLEAN-OUT-LIST.txt (or the known remote-control set when there is no list). Archives before it removes; disables accounts, never deletes them.

EmergentRI Guardian

Looks at every program you download and every extension you add — before it runs — and tells you in plain words whether it is safe. A "driver update" from an ad on a news page is stopped; an extension that asks to read every site is kept off until you say so; our own files are recognised instead of warned about. You always have the final say.

  1. Download and Extract All to a folder you will keep (for example C:\EmergentRI\Guardian).
  2. Edge: edge://extensions → Developer mode → Load unpacked → that folder. Chrome: chrome://extensions → same.
  3. Pin it. No sign-in needed.

The same crew that builds on the web, running on your machine against your own code, in whatever stack the repo already uses: it reads the repo, plans in its style, edits in place, reads the git diff, runs your own checks. The code never leaves your disk; only the thinking goes through emergentri.com, metered on your credits. Needs a shell key from your account.

Why the SHA-256? Because our own Guardian checks every download against known-good.json — the list of our files by hash. If a file calls itself ours and is not on that list, the Guardian treats it like a stranger's. That keeps us honest too.
