Research Desk for legal.

Upload the documents. The council finds the questions, reads the statutes live, lays out the arguments on both sides, and writes the memo you hand to a lawyer — with every authority marked FOUND or TO VERIFY.

Free to start. Thinking costs credits — you see the gold spark before anything costs.

Straight up: this is research, not legal advice. We are not lawyers. The memo says so on every page, and it is built to be handed to one. FOUND means we read a public web page today — a statute index, a court opinion site — not a legal database; TO VERIFY means it was named but not found. Your lawyer confirms what is current and controlling. That is their job; ours is to walk in prepared.

How it works

1Say what you need to find out, what you're trying to establish, what you'll do with it. Attach the documents — files or whole folders: the lease, the contract, the letters, the photos.
2The council reads all of it — a Researcher, an Advocate, Opposing counsel — and comes back with the questions, what the documents establish, and what they don't. You approve before anything else happens.
3The research plan: issues, facts, arguments both ways, the authorities to check. You approve again. Then the lookup runs — searches by jurisdiction, statute pages read live, filed with their URLs.
4The memo, written from those sources: summary, questions, facts quoted, analysis issue by issue, FOUND vs TO VERIFY, open questions, what to hand your lawyer and what to ask them, and the outline of any letter you asked for.

What you get

  • A plain-file memo in your own folder — Markdown, yours, exportable any time
  • Every source it read, saved beside it with the URL and the date
  • The council's proposal and the approved plan — the paper trail a lawyer can follow
  • An RI (Reasoning Intelligence) that remembers the matter next time

What it is not

  • Not legal advice, not a lawyer, not a substitute for one
  • Not a paid case-law database — public pages only; some sites refuse robots and are skipped, never cited
  • Not a guarantee a rule is current or controlling — that is the verification step, and it's human
  • Not a filing: nothing here is sent anywhere unless you send it

For a law group

Run it as-is for intake and first-pass research, or have it customized for your practice: your jurisdictions and the sources you trust, your memo format and headings, your intake questions, your matter folders, your firm's name on it. Your clients' documents stay in your folders; what the RI learns about your practice is yours to export. Tell us what it needs to do and we quote it before anything starts.

✓ Got it — one of the RIs will email you to set up a call, and your sign-in link is on its way so you can try the desk meanwhile.

Built on the same engine as everything else here: the Conductor (propose → approve → design → approve → build → verify), the RIs, and the house's own keyless research organs. Nothing of ours runs on your machine but the shell.
